Short Course: “Applications of Functional Interpolation to Optimization”
Imparte:
Professor Daniele Mortari (Texas A&M University)
Abstract:
This short course describes how to perform functional interpolation and how to use it to solve constrained optimization problems.
The course is made of two parts:
The theorical part of this course includes:
1) Univariate functional interpolation by the “η” and the “switching-projection” formulations. Interpolation subject to points, derivatives, integrals, linear operators, components, infinite, and simple nonlinear.
2) Hard and smooth inequality constraints;
3) Bivariate/multivariate functional interpolation by the tensor and the recursive formulations;
4) Domain mapping;
The applications part of this course includes:
5) Differential and integro-differential equations,
6) Homotopy continuation,
7) Under-determined systems (QP and NLP)
8) Indirect optimal control
9) Geodesic (curved spaces)
10) Extension to fractional constraints.
